Just So You Know Something

We all know the world is going to crud. That is a hard truth that I came to accept, and it was no easy pill to swallow. But to save you some guesswork, just because I accept it doesn’t mean I am willing to allow it, and yes, I am actively trying to make changes. I refuse to accept it going to crud as a final answer. I CANNOT accept that. Hence, sharing my thoughts with the world in the hope that someone else agrees with me and feels emboldened to speak the truth in their way. Because without hope there is no progression. The words that are to come in my postings are my own personal thoughts about how I relate to the world as I see it. Meaning, AS I SEE IT. There is no other way to take that other than I am talking about the world from my perspective.

One thing that I feel a lot of people have lost touch with (to no fault of their own) is understanding that someone else’s thoughts are not your thoughts, and it is not your job to try and argue their thoughts. Your job is to either ask questions to learn, meaning NOT TRY AND CHANGE SOMEONE’S MIND, or keep moving on with your day and don’t interact. I ask you if you feel the need to argue; there are people who really need your energy because I simply don’t need it. Go help them. Take the anger you have towards me and what I say and put that energy towards making someone else’s life better. The same energy you have to call me every name under the sun or write a lengthy response is the same energy it takes to help someone return a cart to the cart return or telling someone you like their art or shirt.

Another thing I want to add is that I say things exactly how I mean them. There is no hidden meaning, no hidden agenda. There is no beating around the bush. Hell, there are barely any big words. I prefer to be direct and clear and meet everyone at the most basic line of communication so someone doesn’t feel the need to twist my words. If you choose to twist my words, I am letting you know that the words you came up with no longer hold the same meaning as the things I said, so you’d be arguing a statement I never made. If you feel that what I said doesn’t make sense, I am 100% open to healthy discussion and even discussions that will be hard to handle. But I won’t tolerate disrespect when a thought harms someone else, even if they aren’t in the room. I have no capacity for it.

I try and lead my life from a humanist perspective and will always put the greater human good above my own wants. But I also want you to know that I am a Black person in America. As a humanist, the line I walk will always come from the perspective of being a Black American. That won’t change and never will change. And I love that. It’s about time more Black humanist philosophical thought is out there in the world.

Thinking is free. And it’s okay if you learn a new way of thinking and the old way of thinking no longer works for you. You are alive and allowed to change who you are as a person. Change is hard, and if you truly want to change, you’ll walk through those hard parts and come out with battle wounds to show that you did that work. When you were a child, you thought like one. And now that you’re an adult, it is time to mature and see the world for what it is. A reflection of yourself that is limited.

Through my blog postings, I’ll bring a lot of who I am into it just to help explain why I view things the way I view them, share my stories with you to help you see choices are ours and ours alone. And that we can make choices, although very difficult, we can still make them to rise above. I am a survivor of childhood trauma. I am the living proof you can make choices that may go against the grain but it will work out for you. I am someone with complex-PTSD and here I am navigating and turning my darkest moments into guiding lights. I’m not perfect but these last eleven years I have worked my hardest to become a better me than who I was.

Thank you for reading this far. I hope my thoughts to come provide your mind a space to explore, laugh, challenge yourself without consequence, and just for a moment allow your guard down to see which choices you can make in your life. Your thoughts don’t have to change, but to see and engage with other thoughts can help you in ways you couldn’t imagine because someone else’s way of thinking may be a level higher than yours and they can lift you up. Don’t take it as an attack when collectively, we all want to be better versions of ourselves.
